Notes on design: Beautiful Diversion

Contribution to the NextD ReRethinking Design SPECIAL ISSUE/ Beautiful Diversion

In April of 2007 I was among fifty members of "the global design community" invited by NextD Journal to comment on Business Week editor Bruce Nussbaum's "Are Designers the Enemy of Design?" cf. Nussbaum's design blog entry on this topic based on a provocative speech to students at a design school.

According to the NextD Journal, "Beautiful Diversion presented a multitude of perspectives from a diversity of design community members in fourteen countries." Interest in Beautiful Diversion continues. More than five thousand people have downloaded the Special Issue since it was first published.
